Yona Magalhaes (Yona Magalhaes)
Brazilian Actress. Born Yoná Magalhães Gonçalves Mendes da Costa, she was a very prominent actress in television and film, whose career spanned 7 decades. She got her start in acting in the television series “As Professoras” in 1955. Magalhaes would go on to act in 60 television series and films throughout her career including “Paraíso Tropical” (2007), “Cama de Gato” (2009) and “Black God, White Devil” (1964). She won the APCA award for best actress for her performance in the television series “Os Imigrantes” in 1982 and the Trofeu Imprensa for best actress in 1986 for her performance in “Roque Santeiro”.
