Valda Valkyrien

Actress, Ballet Dancer. Born in Iceland, she became the prima ballerina dancer of the Royal Danish Ballet in Denmark. While there she appeared in a number of Danish silent motion pictures, including 1912’s “Vanquished”, which saw a release and a measure of acclaim in the United States. She came over to America in 1914, and went on to appear thirteen silent films first for the Centaur Film Company in Bayonne, New Jersey, then for the Thanhouser Film Company and the Fox Film Company. Her most feted roles were in 1915’s “The Valkyrie”, 1916’s “The Hidden Valley” and “Bolshevism on Trial” in 1919. She retired in 1920 and passed away in Los Angeles, California in 1956.
