Theo Brinckwirth

German-born Brinckwirth moved to the United States in 1846 & established a primitive brewery in Quincy, Illinois. After remaining there for three years he moved to St. Louis & bought was was then known as the Lafayette Brewery. A pioneer of the beer brewing industry in St. Louis, Brinckwirth conducted business at the brewery until his death. After his death the business was continued under the firm name of Brinckwirth & Griesedieck. It was later known as Brinckwirth, Griesedieck & Nolker. After Mr. Griesedieck died, the business was known as Brinckwirth & Nolker until it was incorporated under the name of Brinckwirth-Nolker Brewing Company. In 1889, along with 18 other St. Louis breweries, it was consolidated into the St. Louis Brewing Asociation & became the property of one of the largest corporations of its kind in the world.
