Sidney Glazier

Motion Picture Producer. He is best known as the producer of the classic 1968 comedy “The Producers”. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1916, he worked in a local movie theater before serving in World War II. Later finding success as a salesman of State of Israel bonds, that job lead directly to a position as executive director of the Eleanor Roosevelt Cancer Foundation. Putting his extensive knowledge of the former first lady to good use, he served as producer of 1965’s Best Documentary Oscar recipient “The Eleanor Roosevelt Story”. It was this success which lead him down the path towards producing such features as “Take the Money and Run” (1969), “The Twelve Chairs” (1970) and “Glen and Randa” (1971). He died in December 2002 in Bennington, Vermont at age 86. (bio by: Shelly Stager)
