Roseanne Murray (Roseanne Murray)

Roseanne Murray

Actress. A pretty redhead, she is remembered for her film and radio performances from the 1940s. Raised in the Southern Tier of Upstate New York, she appeared in local theatrical productions from an early age, graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1938, and in 1940 relocated to Southern California to pursue her show business ambitions. Roseanne made her 1941 silver screen bow with a small part in “That Night in Rio” and later that year had her first significant part in “Confirm or Deny”. Seen in a number of cinematic features, among them “My Gal Sal” and “The Magnificent Dope” (both 1942), the 1943 “Happy Land”, 1944’s “Here Come the Waves”, and the 1946 “Night in Paradise”, she also became a familiar presence on the radio, her credits including “MGM Theatre of the Air”, “Inner Sanctum Mysteries”, and the “General Electric Theatre”; following what she often spoke of as her favorite role, that of a goofy waitress in 1948’s “I Love Trouble”, Roseanne left the screen and was for many years a regular on the Los Angeles theater circuit. In later years she was active in her community as well as in the Fountain Valley United Methodist Church where she passed along her knowledge via a theater troop. At her death from the infirmities of advanced age, some of her movies were preserved on DVD. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
