Plato Gus Andros

Professional Football Player. Selected in the seventh round of the 1947 National Football League draft by the Los Angeles Rams, he appeared in 45 games over four seasons with the Chicago Cardinals. A standout defensive guard at the University of Oklahoma, he earned All-American honors in 1946. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Second World War, hunting German submarines in the Atlantic Ocean. He was the brother of former Oregon State University head coach Dee Andros. He died from complications of Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 86. (bio by: Nils M.
