Nicole Maurey (Nicole Maurey)

Nicole Maurey

Actress. Born outside of Paris, her father was an architect, Nicole shared her mother’s love for literature and a fondness for the theatre. A sickly child, she was afflicted with scarlet fever and inflammation of the kidneys, which required her to be home schooled during her youth. She initially took ballet lessons but gravitated towards acting and while at school, she was cast for the role of ‘Blondine’ in the film of the same title in 1945. Hollywood soon noticed her and she made her American film debut in “Little Lost Boy” (1953), which starred Bing Crosby. That same year, she adorned the cover of Life Magazine. During the next decade, she regularly appeared in a wide range of both American and British pictures, among them “Secret of the Incas” (1954), “The Bold and the Brave” (1956), “Me and the Colonel” (1958), “The Jayhawkers!” (1959) and “His and Hers” (1961), before returning to her native France, where she starred in films and television. She co-starred in the British TV series “Champion House” (1967 to 1968). (bio by: C.S.)
