Educator, Nobel Prize Recipient. The President of Columbia University from 1902 until his death, he was awarded the 1931 Nobel Peace Prize with Jane Addams for their efforts in promoting peace through education. In the 1912 presidential election, Murray received the 8 electoral votes that were to go to Vice President James Sherman who had died on October 30, 1912, six days prior to the election.  Family links:  Parents:  Henry L.
