Myrtle Damerel (Myrtle Damerel)

Myrtle Damerel

Actress. She went by the name of Myrtle Vail throughout her career. Damerel started performing on the vaudeville circuit with her husband George,  and later came up with the idea of a radio soap opera based on her stage experiences.   It became a reality when the “Myrt and Marge Show” debuted on CBS in 1931.   Damerel’s daughter Donna played Marge opposite her role of Myrt until Donna’s untimely passing in 1941.  Damerel would continue with the show, along with Helen Mack who took over the role of Marge, until 1946.   After the show ended, she appeared in several low budget cult films like “A Bucket of Blood” and “The Little Shop of Horrors”.
