Maurice H. Fleishman

Architect. Fleishman, who graduated from McGill University’s School of Architecture in Montreal, Canada, was best known for his ‘mid century’ modern style of civic buildings in Southern California.  Among his most notable designs are the Marina Del Rey Yacht Club (1965), Santa Monica Municipal Courts (1968), Beverly Hills Municipal Courts (1970), Malibu Administrative Center (1970) and the Los Angeles Criminal Courts building (1973). In the 1950s, he designed homes for movie stars, producers, and sports greats including David O. Selznick, Leo Durocher and Laraine Day, Marie McDonald and Ken Murray. Fleishman served on the Los Angeles County Design Control Board from 1964 through the 1990s. (bio by: Louis M.)
