Lina Cavalieri (Lina Cavalieri)

Lina Cavalieri

Actress/Opera Singer. Cavalieri made her debut as Nedda, from the opera Pagliaci by Leoncavallo at the São Carlos Theatre in Lisbon in 1901. Unceasingly photographed and eternalized in innumerable postcards, Cavalieri conquered, during the years 1902 and 1904, audiences in Italy, Poland and the aristocratic Czarist Russia and, celebrated by her amazing beauty, dazzled the Europeans and gained world notoriety. She appeared in Paris in 1905 at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre next to Enrico Caruso in the leading part of the opera Fedora, by Giordano. Consecrated in Europe and acclaimed in America as “The most beautiful woman in the world,” Lina Cavalieri opened at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York in 1906, once again having Caruso as her partner in Fedora.
