Josita Hernán

Actress. She was born in Mahón (Menorca, Islas Baleres) and died in Madrid (Spain). At young age, she debuted on stage on Las Mocedades del Cid. In cinema, her first film was La Bien Pagada (1934). She and the actor Rafael Durán worked succesfully in several films in the 40s and on stage with their own company. In the 50s, she retired from cinema. Also she developed a career as writer, teacher and painter in Spain and France. She is best remembered for her role in the dissapeared film La Tonta del Bote (1939). Also she worked in Muñequita (1940), El 13.000 (1941), La Niña Está Loca (1942), La Chica del Gato (1943), Mi Enemigo y Yo (1943), Ella, Él y sus Millones (1944), Un Hombre de Negocios (1945), Las Inquietudes de Shanti Andía (1946), Viaje de Novios (1947) and El Libro del Buen Amor (1975), her last film. As writer, she wrote El Pescador de Estrellas, Sirenita y Yo and Una Muchacha Bajo Las Estrellas. Her real name was Josefina Hernández Meléndez. According the newspapers, she was cremated in Madrid.
