Joseph Magliocco (Joseph Magliocco)
Organized Crime Figure. Took control of the Profaci Organized Crime Family after the death of his brother-in-law and boss of the family, Joseph Profaci on June 6, 1962. He ran the family until he died of a heart attack in December 1963. After his death Joseph Colombo became boss and the family still bears his name. During the early 1960s the business office of New Jersey Mafia Boss Simone (Sam the Plumber) DeCavalcante was bugged by the FBI and DeCavalcante was overheard telling other mobsters that Mafia Boss Joseph Bonanno had poisoned Magliocco so Bonanno could take over the Family. In August of 1969 the FBI had Joseph Magliocco’s body exhumed and tested to see if his death was caused by poisoning. The coroner found no trace of poison in Magilocco’s body and determined that he had died of a heart attack.
