Johnny Allen

Professional Football Player. For four seasons (1955 to 1958), he played at the center and linebacker positions in the National Football League with the Washington Redskins. Born John McKee Allen, he attended Ross High School in Freemont, Ohio and played collegiate football at Purdue University before being chosen by Washington during the 8th round of the 1955 NFL Draft. He appeared in 48 career games, serving as a backup to Harry Ulinski and Jim Schrader, also being utilized as an effective long snapper during punt and field goal attempts. Following his football career, Allen worked as a salesman. He died from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. (bio by: C.S.)
