John Bowers

Actor.  Real name John Bowersox.  The leading man in many silent movies, he began his screen career in 1916. He is featured in the movies “Richard the Lion-Hearted,” “Pals in Paradise,” and “Ragtime.” He had also appeared in three early talkies, but his career began to fail after the end of the silent era. Afterwards he tried to found a flying school, but that also failed. He was married to Marguerite De La Motte, but they divorced shortly before his death. He committed suicide in 1936 by renting a yacht and sailing it into the ocean where he jumped off the boat and drowned himself. His body washed up on the beach the next day.
