Jacqueline Courtney (Jacqueline Courtney)

Jacqueline Courtney

Actress. She will be remembered for long-running roles on afternoon television soap operas. Born Sharon Courtney, she broke into show business with a brief turn on “The Edge of Night” in 1961, then followed with appearances on “Our Five Daughters” (1962) and “The Doctors” in 1963 before landing the role of Alice Matthews Frame on NBC’s “Another World” at the show’s inception in May of 1964. She played Alice until July 1975 when she and her co-star George Reinholt were fired for reasons that remain unclear. Courtney soon assumed the part of Pat Kendall on ABC’s “One Life to Live”, remaining in the cast until dismissed in 1983. She returned to “Another World” as Alice for a year in the mid 1980s, was brothel madame Diane Winston on ABC’s “Loving” in 1987, then retired from show business following two 1989 cameos as Alice. She died after a short battle with malignant melanoma. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
