Jackie Lynn Taylor (Jackie Lynn Taylor)

Jackie Lynn Taylor

Actress, Television Host. Taylor will best be remembered for appearing in several ‘Our Gang’ short subjects from 1934 to 1935, often portraying the sister or girlfriend of one of the boys. Like all the cast, she was replaced (by Darla Hood) as she grew too “old” to be a Little Rascal, but spent 15 more active years in Hollywood, appearing in bit parts in 75 movies and performances in theater plays. In 1948, she married actor Ben Bard and two years later, she started a career as a host in the fledgling TV industry. In 1951, she worked at KTTV in Los Angeles as one of the first female TV co-hosts in Southern California and later went on to host shows or work as a reporter in such California cities as Bakersfield, Tulare, Stockton, Sacramento and in Salinas where she went to work in 1965 as a TV anchor. It was there she met and married Jack Fries, a former CBS journalist and TV anchor and producer, in 1966. She left the news business to live with her husband in Los Angeles, where he worked for a TV news show. By the late 1970s, the couple moved to Missouri and became ministers in the nondenominational Unity Church. They led congregations in Missouri, Southern California and Nevada before retiring and returning to Sacramento in 1993, where she counseled girls in Juvenile Hall and ministered with her husband as chaplains in retirement communities. Taylor died from Alzheimer’s disease. (bio by: Louis M.)
