Jack Dawn

Makeup Artist. He was head of the makeup department at MGM Studios beginning in 1939. He developed many innovations that are still in use today. He worked closely with San Diego Naval Hospital in 1943, creating inlays for hands and faces so that patients could appear normal between multiple plastic surgery operations. He retired from MGM in 1956 and passed away five years later. Because there was no Oscar category for film makeup during his career, Dawn never received an Academy Award for any his remarkable makeup creations. He is interred in an unmarked grave.
