Educator. Creator of the Kindergarten System. In 1837 he founded the Play and Activity Institute in Bad Blankenburg, Germany,  changing its name to the Kindergarten (“Children’s Garden”) in 1840.  Froebel was one of the first to use systematized play as a method to stimulate learning among the very young.
