Douglas Blackley

Actor. Born as Douglas W. Blackley Jr. in Hartford, Connecticut. He was a prize fighter and when he began movies he was known as Robert Kent. His career consisted mostly of playing leads in “B” pictures. He specialized in westerns, action and adventure films, appearing in such pictures as Gang Bullets in 1938, The Phantom Creeps in 1939 and Twilight on the Trail in 1941. His biggest picture was probably The Country Girl in 1954. He married Astrid Allwyn, three years after the marriage, it would end in divorce. Robert would eventually marry again to Beverly McNamara, he also had three daughters. He suffered from alcoholism and died at the age of 46 from a coronary occlusion.
