Charles Revson

Businessman. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was a pioneering cosmetics industry executive who created and managed Revlon. He began working for the Elka Cosmetic Company when decided to go into business for himself. He started the Revlon Cosmetics Company which specialized in a line of nail polishes, lipsticks, marketed through beauty salons and later at department stores. He soon offered a line of quality perfumes and fragrances, with great success being marketed world wide. In addition his company sponsored the popular TV game shows, “The $64,000 Question” and “The $64,000 Challenge”. Revson served as president of Revlon (1932-62) and as chairman until his death in 1975. He died at age 68 in New Rochelle, New York. (bio by: John “J-Cat” Griffith)
