Beatriz Sheridan

Director and Stage, Movie and Television Actress. Born Elizabeth Ann Sheridan Scarbrough in Mexico, Distrito Federal. Sheridan directed productions such as La intrusa (2001), Rosalinda (1999), La ursupadora (1998), Esmeralda (1997), María la del barrio (1995), Marimar (1994), María Mercedes (1992), Mi pequeña soledad (1990), Simplemente María (1989) and Rosa Salvaje (1997), just to mention some of her telenovelas (soaps). She starred in Senda prohibida (1958), the first Mexican soap, and in internationally known soaps such as Gabriel y Gabriela (1982), Vivir un poco (1985), Alondra (1995), Amor Real (2003) and Contra viento y marea (2005), her last and most recent work. She also acted in the movies La otra ciudad (1967), Pedro Páramo (1967) and Los recuerdos del porvenir (1969). Sheridan never married and is survived by two of her siblings. She died suddenly at her home in Mexico, Distrito Federal of a heart attack at the age of 71. Per her request, she was cremated at the Panteón Español and her ashes scattered along the beaches of Cozumel, Quintana Roo. (bio by: Debbie)
