Carmen de Burgos

Author, Journalist. She was born in Rodalquivir, Almería (Andalucía, Spain). Married at young age, she divorced and moved to Madrid with her child. She was a pioneer women in the fight of feminism, the sufragism and the republican ideas. She worked for several magazines and newspapers such as “La España Artística,” “La Educación,” “El País,” “ABC,” “El Liberal,” “La Esfera” and “El Heraldo de Madrid.” She died of a heart attack while participated in a meeting of the Círculo Radical Socialista in Madrid. As writer, she is remembered for “El Divorcio en España,” “Los Inadaptados,” “Arte de Saber Vivir,” “El Hombre Negro,” “La Rampa,” “El Último Contrabandista” and “Los Espirituados.”  (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)  Family links:  Children:  María Álvarez de Burgos* *Calculated relationship
