Biography

Mikhail Bakunin was born on May 30, 1814, in Priamukhino, Russia, during a time of profound social and political upheaval across Europe. From his early years, he would come to embody the spirit of revolutionary thought that defined much of the nineteenth century. His life spanned a transformative era, and his intellectual contributions would leave a lasting mark on political philosophy and the development of anarchist theory.

Throughout his life, Bakunin devoted himself to revolutionary ideals and anarchist philosophy, becoming one of the most influential thinkers of his generation. His passionate commitment to social change and his articulate vision of a liberated society captured the imagination of countless activists and intellectuals across Europe and beyond. Despite the challenges and opposition he faced, he remained steadfast in his convictions.

Bakunin spent his final years in Bern, Switzerland, where he died on July 1, 1876. His earthly remains were laid to rest in Bremgarten cemetery in Bern, a final resting place far from his Russian homeland. Though his life came to an end in the latter part of the nineteenth century, his philosophical legacy continues to inspire those who seek to understand the nature of freedom, authority, and human liberation.
