Haile Selassie I was born on July 23, 1892, in Ejersa Goro, Ethiopia, during a transformative period in his nation’s history. He would go on to become one of Africa’s most significant leaders, serving as Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 until 1974. His reign spanned nearly half a century, a period marked by his efforts to modernize Ethiopia while preserving its ancient Christian traditions and independence.
