Biography

George VI was born on December 14, 1895, at York Cottage, beginning a life that would lead him to an unexpected throne. Though not originally destined for kingship, circumstances would reshape his path and call him to serve as King of the United Kingdom from 1936 until his death. His reign spanned a transformative period in British history, during which he guided the nation through extraordinary challenges and change.

On February 6, 1952, King George VI passed away at Sandringham House, having battled lung cancer in his final years. His death marked the end of a sixteen-year reign in which he devoted himself to his duties and his country. He was laid to rest in the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor, United Kingdom, a place of honor befitting his devoted service to the Crown and nation.
