Born on September 21 in 62 BCE in Rome, Augustus rose to become the first emperor of the Roman Empire and founder of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. His life spanned a transformative period in Roman history, during which he shaped the political and administrative foundations that would define the empire for centuries to come.
