Biography

Luigi Carlo Farini was born on October 22, 1812, in the small town of Russi, in the Province of Ravenna, Italy. He would devote his life to two great pursuits: the study and interpretation of history and service to his nation through political engagement. Living during a transformative period in Italian history, Farini emerged as a significant intellectual voice, contributing to both historical scholarship and the political discourse of his era.

Throughout his career, Farini distinguished himself as both a historian and politician, roles that complemented one another in his quest to understand and shape Italian society. His work reflected the intellectual currents of nineteenth-century Italy, a time of great change and national consciousness. Though details of his specific achievements remain part of historical record, his dual career demonstrated a commitment to knowledge and civic responsibility.

Farini remained connected to his native Russi throughout his life, and it was there that he spent his final years. He passed away on August 1, 1866, at the age of 53, having witnessed much of the transformation of the Italian peninsula during his lifetime. He was laid to rest in Russi, his birthplace, where his memory continues as part of the town’s heritage.
