Beatrice of Portugal was born on February 1, 1373, in Coimbra, during a significant period in Iberian history. Her life spanned the late medieval era, a time of political complexity and dynastic ambition across the Portuguese and Castilian crowns. Through her royal lineage and marriages, she became connected to the intricate politics of two major kingdoms, navigating the challenges and opportunities that her position afforded.

Throughout her life, Beatrice held the title of Queen of Castile and maintained a claim to the Portuguese throne. She lived during an era when women of noble birth exercised considerable influence at court, and her royal status reflected the importance of dynastic connections in medieval Europe. Her life reflected the broader political currents of her time, as kingdoms formed alliances and rivalries shaped the continent’s future.

Beatrice died on January 1, 1409, in Toro, Spain, at the age of thirty-five. Her final resting place was the Monastery of Sancti Spiritus in Toro, a fitting honor for a queen of her standing. Though specific details of her later years remain limited, her legacy endured through her connections to the royal houses of both Castile and Portugal, cementing her place in the genealogical history of medieval Iberia.
