Biography
Kim Il-sung was born on April 15, 1912, in Mangyŏngdae, a village that would become deeply significant in the nation’s history. He went on to serve as Supreme Leader of North Korea for nearly five decades, from 1948 until his death in 1994. Throughout this extensive tenure, he shaped the course of the Korean peninsula during a transformative period marked by division, war, and ideological commitment.
On July 8, 1994, Kim Il-sung passed away in Pyongyang at the age of eighty-two, having suffered a myocardial infarction. His death marked the end of an era and a significant moment in the nation he had led for generations. Following his passing, he was interred at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Taesong-guyok, a place of honor befitting his decades of leadership and the historical weight he carried throughout his life and legacy.
