Amadeus V 1323
Biography
Amadeus V was a Count of Savoy whose life spanned the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries. Born at the Château du Bourget, he entered the world during a time of significant change in the Alpine regions of Europe. As a member of the House of Savoy, one of Europe’s most prominent noble families, Amadeus V inherited responsibilities for governing his territories and maintaining the political influence of his lineage during the medieval period.
His death occurred on October 24, 1323, in Avignon, a city of considerable importance in fourteenth-century Europe. The circumstances surrounding his final years remain largely undocumented in available records. Following his passing, Amadeus V was laid to rest at the Royal Abbey of Hautecombe in Saint-Pierre-de-Curtille, France, a burial site befitting his noble status and reflecting the deep connections between the House of Savoy and the religious institutions of the region.
Though details of his reign and personal life have not been extensively preserved, Amadeus V remains part of the important genealogical record of Savoy, a dynasty that would continue to influence European affairs for centuries to come.
