Biography

Mikhail Alekseyev was born on November 15, 1857, in Vyazma, Russia, where he began a life that would span one of the most turbulent periods in his nation’s history. He rose through the ranks to become a general of infantry, dedicating his military career to service during a time of profound change and conflict in Russia. His professional development reflected the complex demands placed upon military leadership during the late Imperial period.

General Alekseyev’s life concluded on October 8, 1918, in Krasnodar, a city caught in the chaos of the Russian Civil War. His death marked the end of a career that had witnessed the transformation of Russia from empire to revolution. Though his final years unfolded during extraordinary upheaval, his military service remained a significant chapter in Russian military history.

Following his passing, General Alekseyev was laid to rest at Belgrade New Cemetery in Belgrade, Serbia—a final resting place far from his native Russia. This burial reflects the displacement experienced by many Russian military and political figures during the revolutionary period. His grave in Belgrade stands as a testament to a life of service and to the historical currents that shaped the fate of many of his generation.
