Biography
Leonid Brezhnev was born on December 19, 1906, in Kamyanske, a city in what is now Ukraine. He would go on to become one of the most influential political figures of the twentieth century, serving as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union during a pivotal era in world history. His leadership shaped Soviet policy and international relations during the Cold War period.
Throughout his career, Brezhnev rose through the ranks of the Communist Party to assume the highest position in the Soviet state. His tenure witnessed significant developments in Soviet politics, society, and foreign affairs that left a lasting imprint on the nation and its global standing.
On November 10, 1982, Brezhnev passed away in Zarechye at the age of seventy-five, succumbing to a myocardial infarction.
