Biography
Leon Trotsky was born on November 7, 1879, in Bereslavka, where he would begin a life devoted to revolutionary ideals and Marxist thought. As a Russian Marxist revolutionary, he became a prominent figure in one of history’s most transformative periods, dedicating himself to the advancement of socialist principles and working tirelessly to shape the political movements of his era.
His life’s work reflected a deep commitment to revolutionary change, and his intellectual contributions left an enduring mark on twentieth-century political thought. Through decades of activism and advocacy, Trotsky remained steadfast in his convictions, even as his path led him far from his Russian homeland.
On August 21, 1940, Leon Trotsky’s life came to an end in Coyoacán, Mexico, where he had sought refuge in his later years. He died of cerebral hemorrhage, concluding a remarkable and often turbulent journey. He was laid to rest in the Grave of Leon Trotsky and Natalia Sedova in Coyoacán, where his memory continues to be honored alongside that of his devoted companion.
