Biography

Julia the Younger was born on January 1, 18 BCE in Gaul, the daughter of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa and Julia the Elder. As a member of one of Rome’s most prominent families, she occupied an important place in the imperial household during the reign of her grandfather, Augustus.

Throughout her life, Julia the Younger was connected to the significant events and political landscape of her era. Living during a transformative period in Roman history, she witnessed the consolidation of imperial power and the development of Rome’s influence across the Mediterranean world.

On January 1, 28 CE, Julia the Younger passed away on the Isole Tremiti, islands off the coast of Italy. Her life, spanning nearly half a century, concluded in these remote islands, far from the centers of Roman power where she had spent much of her earlier years.

Julia the Younger remains a figure of historical significance within the Julio-Claudian family, remembered as a daughter of privilege and a witness to Rome’s imperial age.
