Jean de Valette Parisot was born on January 1, 1494, in the village of Parisot in the Quercy region of France. A nobleman of distinguished lineage, he devoted his life to the order of the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, an organization dedicated to charitable and military service in the Mediterranean. Rising through the ranks of the Hospitallers, Jean de Valette Parisot served as Grand Prior of Saint-Gilles, representing the Langue de Provence from 1556 to 1557.
