Biography
James II was born on October 24, 1633, in London, into one of history’s most prominent royal families. His life would span nearly seven decades of significant change across the British Isles, marked by his ascension to the thrones of England, Scotland, and Ireland in 1685. Though his reign proved consequential, it would ultimately prove brief, lasting only three years before dramatic circumstances altered the course of his life and legacy.
