Ilse Werner

Actress. Born in Batavia (Jakarta/Indonesia). Daughter of O.E. Still and his wife Lilli. In 1931 she migrated to Frankfurt/Germany. Her first appearance on stage was in “Glück” at the Josephstadt-Theater in Vienna, 1937. Her debut movie role was in  “Die unruhigen Mädchen” (1938). In 1939 she had her first leading role in “Bel Ami.” She appeared in more than 30 movies over four decades. Often refered to as The Whistling Singer, or “Die Frau mit Pfiff” in Germany. In 1991, last appearance in a leading role was in “The Hallo-Sisters.” In her last years she lived in a retirement home near Luebeck-Germany. (bio by: The Romancer)
