Biography

Henry VI came into the world on December 15, 1421, at Windsor Castle, born into a legacy of royal expectation and dynastic responsibility. As King of England, he carried the weight of the crown during two separate periods of his reign—from 1422 through 1461, and again briefly from 1470 to 1471. Beyond England’s borders, he also held the disputed title of King of France, a claim maintained from 1422 until 1453, reflecting the complex political landscape of medieval Europe during his lifetime.

Henry’s life ended on May 30, 1471, within the Tower of London, marking the conclusion of a reign marked by significant historical turbulence. Though the precise circumstances surrounding his death remain unrecorded in history, his passing represented the end of an era filled with political upheaval and dynastic struggle. In accordance with his station, Henry was laid to rest at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, a place of honor befitting his royal lineage and lifelong service to the English crown.
