Henri, Count of Paris 1933 – 2019
Biography
Henri, Count of Paris, was born on June 14, 1933, in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, carrying with him a legacy stretching back through centuries of French royal tradition. As an Orléanist pretender, he represented a dynastic claim to the French throne—a symbolic role that connected him to a distinctive branch of European nobility. Throughout his life, Henri maintained this historical lineage, embodying a living link to France’s monarchical past even as the nation itself had long since moved forward into its republican future.
His life spanned nearly nine decades, concluding on January 21, 2019, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris—a final chapter written in the heart of the city his ancestors once ruled. His passing marked the end of an era for those devoted to Orléanist traditions and French royalist history. In honor of his station and heritage, Henri was laid to rest at the Dreux Royal Chapel, a place of profound historical significance where generations of French nobility had been interred. His burial there ensured his place among the monuments of France’s regal past.
