Hamengkubuwono IX (1912–1988) was a Sultan of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, first Governor of the Special region of Yogyakarta and 2nd Vice President of Indonesia. Born April 12, 1912 in Yogyakarta. Died October 3, 1988 in Washington, D.C.. Interred at Imogiri, Bantul, Indonesia.
