Biography

Born in Greenwich on September 7, 1860, Anna Mary Robertson Moses grew up in rural America, where she developed a deep connection to the land and seasons that would later define her artistic vision. She lived a full life rooted in the rhythms of farm work and family, building a foundation of lived experience that would become the heart of her creative expression.

It was not until her later years that Moses turned to painting, discovering a gift that had quietly waited within her all along. Her distinctive style captured the warmth and nostalgia of American rural life, rendering pastoral scenes with a childlike joy and meticulous attention to detail. Her work resonated with countless admirers who saw in her paintings a cherished reflection of simpler times and cherished memories.

Moses spent her final years in Hoosick Falls, New York, continuing to paint and create until her death on December 13, 1961. She left behind a remarkable legacy of artwork and a life that proved it is never too late to discover one’s true calling. She was laid to rest at Maple Grove New Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, where her memory remains as vibrant as the scenes she so lovingly portrayed.
