Biography
Galba was born on December 22, 2 BC, in the coastal town of Terracina, entering a world of great privilege and opportunity. Coming from a distinguished Roman family, he would eventually rise to occupy one of history’s most powerful positions, becoming the sixth Emperor of Rome. His life spanned more than seven decades, witnessing tremendous change across the Roman Empire during a transformative period in its history.
Galba’s ascension to imperial power marked a significant moment in Roman politics. Though his reign was relatively brief, it represented an important transition in the succession of emperors following the Julio-Claudian dynasty. On January 13, 69 AD, Galba died in Rome, the capital city he had ruled. He was buried in Rome, his final resting place reflecting the prominence he had achieved throughout his life.
