Biography

Eduardo Dato was born on August 12, 1856, in A Coruña, Spain, where he began a life devoted to literature and intellectual pursuits. Over the course of his career, he established himself as a respected Spanish author, contributing to the cultural landscape of his nation during a transformative period in Spanish history. His work and influence reflected the intellectual currents of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century Spain.

Dato’s life came to a tragic and violent end on March 8, 1921, when he was shot in Madrid. The circumstances of his death marked a somber conclusion to a life dedicated to the written word.
