Biography

Doubravka of Bohemia was born on January 1, 940, in the Duchy of Bohemia during a transformative period in Central European history. As a member of the Bohemian royal family, she occupied an important position within the nobility of her time, and her life would come to span two significant kingdoms of the medieval world.

Through marriage, Doubravka became Duchess consort of the Polans, uniting her Bohemian heritage with the Polish realm. This union reflected the diplomatic and dynastic connections that bound together the emerging Christian kingdoms of Central Europe during the tenth century. Her role as duchess consort placed her at the center of court life and political affairs during a crucial period of cultural and religious development in the region.

Doubravka lived to the age of thirty-seven, passing away on January 1, 977, in Poland. Her life, though briefly documented in historical records, represents an important thread in the complex tapestry of medieval Central European nobility, connecting the Bohemian and Polish dynasties during the early Christian era.
