Biography

Conradin was born on April 1, 1252, at Burgruine Wolfstein, inheriting a legacy of nobility and territorial claims that would define his brief life. As Duke of Swabia, King of Jerusalem, and King of Sicily, he held titles befitting one of medieval Europe’s most prominent royal houses. Despite his elevated position and the weight of these crowns, Conradin’s reign would be marked by struggle and conflict as he fought to maintain his inheritance against powerful adversaries.

On November 5, 1268, Conradin’s life came to a tragic end in Naples at just sixteen years of age. He was executed by decapitation, a fate that reflected the brutal realities of medieval political conflict and the high stakes of dynastic warfare. His remains were interred at Santa Maria del Carmine in Naples, where they were laid to rest with the dignity befitting his rank.

Though his life was cut short, Conradin remains a significant figure in medieval history—a young nobleman whose claims and conflicts shaped the political landscape of his era. His story serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers and uncertainties faced by those born into power during one of Europe’s most turbulent centuries.
