Archduke Friedrich was born on June 4, 1856, in Židlochovice, entering a life shaped by his position within the Austro-Hungarian imperial family. As a member of the archducal line and holder of the title Duke of Teschen, he occupied a place of distinction in one of Europe’s most prominent royal households during a period of significant historical transformation.

Friedrich’s life spanned the latter decades of the nineteenth century and extended well into the twentieth, allowing him to witness the profound changes that reshaped European society and politics.
