Ahmed Qurei 1937 – 2023

Biography

Ahmed Qurei was born on March 26, 1937, in Abu Dis, a village near Jerusalem that would shape his lifelong connection to Palestinian affairs. Throughout his life, he remained deeply rooted in his community and dedicated himself to public service during pivotal moments in Palestinian history.

Qurei’s career brought him to the highest levels of Palestinian leadership, serving as Prime Minister and working on some of the most significant political and diplomatic challenges of his time. His role in Palestinian governance reflected decades of commitment to his people and their aspirations during a complex period of Middle Eastern history.

On February 22, 2023, Qurei passed away in Ramallah at the age of 85. His remains were laid to rest in Abu Dis, the place of his birth, completing a full circle of his life in his native village. He is remembered as a significant figure in Palestinian political life and a man who devoted his years to service during transformative times for his nation.
