Biography

Emerich Jenei was born on March 22, 1937, in the small Romanian community of Agrișu Mic. From his earliest years in this modest village, he would go on to pursue a life in sport, becoming a footballer whose career reflected the dedication and passion of his generation. Little is known of his early life, but his path led him to develop skills that would define much of his adulthood.

Throughout his life, Jenei remained connected to the Bihor region of Romania, the area where he was born and where he would ultimately spend his final years. He passed away on November 5, 2025, in Oradea, a city not far from his birthplace. His remains were laid to rest at Rulikowski Cemetery in Oradea, where he is remembered by those who knew him and by the community he called home.

Though the details of his football career remain largely unrecorded, Jenei’s life spanned nearly nine decades during a transformative period in Romanian history. He leaves behind a legacy as a sportsman and a member of his community, one whose memory endures in the place where he lived and in the hearts of those who knew him.
