Blanche II of Navarre

Biography

Blanche II of Navarre was born on June 9, 1424, in Olite, a member of the distinguished House of Aragon. As a princess of royal blood, she occupied an important place within the nobility of her time, holding the title of queen pretendent of Navarre. Her life unfolded during a significant period in medieval European history, when dynastic claims and political alliances shaped the futures of kingdoms and families alike.

Blanche’s life was cut short on December 2, 1464, when she died in Orthez at the age of forty. The circumstances of her death were tragic—she was poisoned, a grim reminder of the dangers that could face even those of the highest station during this era. Her remains were laid to rest with honor at Lescar Cathedral in Lescar, France, a final resting place befitting her royal status and the dignity of her lineage.

Though her life was relatively brief, Blanche II of Navarre remains part of the rich historical tapestry of the House of Aragon and the kingdom of Navarre. Her memory endures through the records of her time and in the cathedral where she was interred.
